Alaska Commission on Aging meets in Anchorage, Dec. 10-11

The Alaska Commission on Aging will hold its quarterly meeting Dec. 10 and 11 in Anchorage at the Anchorage Senior Activity Center. Public attendance is encouraged.

Commissioners will hear presentations from and about senior service programs and agencies, including the Division of Senior and Disabilities Services; Alaska Mental Health Trust Authority; Anchorage Senior Advisory Commission; UAA Geriatrics; Alaska Housing Finance Corp; Long Term Care Ombudsman; AARP; AgeNet and more.

A public comment period will be held Dec. 10 from 11 to 11:30 a.m. You can attend in person or by dialing 1-800-315-6338 using code 53250#.

There will be a special Elder-Senior Listening Session on Dec. 11 from 8:30 a.m. to noon, with breakfast and snacks provided. The discussion will focus on ways to improve the lives of Anchorage’s seniors. (See the article on page 3 of this issue for details about this event.)

The Alaska Commission on Aging advocates for state policy, public and private partnerships, state/federal projects and citizen involvement on senior issues.
