The presenter will be Ilona Bessenyey, an Elder Law and Estate planning attorney, who focuses on the unique needs and issues facing the elderly, the disabled and their families. She is a 25-year member of the Alaska Bar Association and is the chair of the Elder Law Section of the Alaska Bar Association. She is an active member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, Eldercounsel, and Lawyers With Purpose.
Ms. Bessenyey is a partner in the law firm of BESSENYEY & VAN TUYN, L.L.C. She received her B.S. degree in Social Work at the University of Vermont in 1983. She received her J.D. degree magna cum laude from Vermont Law School in 1989 and was admitted to the Alaska Bar that same year.
This forum will cover:
• why Alaskans need to understand Medicaid
• Alaska’s Medicaid rules regarding long term care for a single person and for couples including income and asset limits
• level of care requirements
• the two types of long term care Medicaid
• Miller Trusts.
• The forum will also debunk common Medicaid myths.
