The Alaska Kidney Patient Association is offering free kidney health screenings May 14 at the Anchorage Senior Activity Center, 9 a.m. to noon. If you have diabetes, high blood pressure or an immediate family member with kidney disease, this screening is for you. By appointment only, register online by May 11 at http://www.alaskakidney.org.
The association will also present a Living Donor Workshop May 19 at the Providence Medical Center East Auditorium, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. This event is designed to educate people in need of a kidney transplant. A panel of living kidney donors and transplant recipients, who received a kidney from a living donor, will share their experiences and take questions. All are welcome. Finally, the association will present its 11th Annual Kidney Education Symposium on Saturday, May 21, at the BP Energy Center in Anchorage. The free conference is for kidney dialysis patients, kidney transplant patients as well as kidney patient family members and caregivers to learn and ask questions. A continental breakfast, snack and lunch will be provided. Each patient is encouraged to bring one to two family members.
