Members at Haines Senior Center explore their creative sides coloring in a sketchbook given to the center by Marilyn Wilson (right). Here, she and Maria Pointer select colors for one drawing in the book, "Joyous Blooms To Color," by Eleri Fowler, a traveler from Wales who draws inspiration from nature. Adult coloring books have taken off in popularity as a way to promote relaxation, improve focus and indulge in creativity. "I didn't know I could do that," one first-timer said after a recent coloring session. Site Manager Cindy Jackson said visitors may check out pencils and sketchbooks to work through November, and then enter their drawings for a judging contest, with the winner receiving a book of meal tickets to the center's lunches.
