The Alaska VA has been selected to host the 2019 National Veterans Golden Age Games in Anchorage.
“I look forward to rooting on all of our nation’s veterans competing in the Games next year,” said Senator Murkowski in an announcement via Facebook on Jan. 12.
One of the premiere senior adaptive rehabilitation programs in the U.S., the National Veterans Golden Age Games is the only national multi-event sports and recreational seniors’ competition program designed to improve the quality of life for all older veterans, including those with a wide range of abilities and disabilities.
The games are open to veterans age 55 or older who receive health care through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. Events include air pistol, archery, bowling, disc golf for the blind and visually impaired, pickleball and much more.
This year’s games take place Aug. 3-8 in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
