Registration is open for this year’s Alaska International Senior Games, which take place Aug. 9-18 in Fairbanks. The annual event brings together people from all around the United States and several countries to compete – you must be age 50 or older – in everything ranging from horseshoes and bocce, to track and field and swimming, from disc golf to traditional golf on Fairbanks’ best courses. In all, expect some 20 sports with more than 60 events, according to the AISG website. The Games is a week of activities that you can enjoy, whether you’re a casual athlete or serious competitor, in any sport.
Registration fee for 2019 is $55, with an early bird discount of $20 savings for registrations received by midnight Alaska Daylight Time (ADT) on July 15. All registrations must be received by July 25 at midnight ADT. Some events will have additional fees. Anyone 90 and over pays no registration or entry fees, but must use a paper form to register.
